Chapman Eastway’s CEO Sean Cortis speaking at the 2016 APAC Summit

The Private Wealth Management APAC Summit was held between 25th-27th April in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The annual summit offers regional SFOs, MFOs, wealth advisors, and international fund managers and consultants an intimate environment for a focused discussion of key new drivers shaping wealth preservation and investment strategy.

For over 10 years, Sean has developed considerable expertise in family wealth management. For Sean, developing effective investment solutions for international families will require advisors to take a holistic approach and consider culture-specific factors in order to deliver value and ensure wealth sustainability. He posits that in Asian families, attitudes to wealth management are affected by historical, socio-cultural and political factors as well as by existing family preferences and value-sets.

As such, wealth advisors should learn to identify and understand cultural trends if they hope to capitalise on the enormous opportunities presented by the growth of wealthy Asian families, particularly first-generation wealth creators.
